“Finish Strong” Means Something Different for Everyone

At Finish Strong Physical Therapy + Performance, “Finish Strong” means something different for every person who walks through our doors, and it should, because that is what individualized care looks like.

For some people, it means recovering from surgery and feeling confident in their body again.
For others, it means returning to running, swimming, lifting, or the sports they love after an injury.
Sometimes, it simply means finally understanding why something has been hurting for months, or even years, and having a plan moving forward.

No matter what brings someone into our clinic, the goal remains the same: helping people get back to life and activities that matter most to them.

Matt Somma Providing One-on-One Physical Therapy Care

At Finish Strong, we believe healthcare should feel personal. You should feel heard. You should understand your treatment plan and why you are doing what you are doing. Most importantly, your goals should matter.

That is why our approach is centered around individualized, collaborative care. From your very first visit, we focus on understanding your history, frustrations, movement patterns, and goals. Through conversation, movement assessment, education, and ongoing support, we build a plan together centered around your success.

Treatment may include hands-on care, mobility work, strength training, biomechanical analysis, progressive exercise programming, or sport-specific movement training. No two plans look the same because no two people move, recover, or train the same way.

Typical sessions last 60 minutes because recovery takes time. It takes conversation, education, trust, and consistency. We want patients to feel confident throughout the process — not rushed through it.

That mindset shaped the creation of Finish Strong by owners Daniel Frey and Matthew Somma.

Sam LaRiviere coaching our Elite Swim Camp at Bates College

Dan’s background as a Division I runner, running biomechanics specialist, coach, and endurance athlete helped shape our focus on movement quality, individualized care, and helping athletes continue doing what they love at every level. Matt’s background in sports performance, spine rehabilitation, baseball-specific training, and strength and conditioning helped build the clinic’s foundation around evidence-informed care, long-term resilience, and confidence in movement.

That same philosophy continues through the work of Sam LaRiviere, whose passion for swimming, triathlons, and endurance sports has helped expand Finish Strong beyond a traditional physical therapy clinic. Through swim camps, bike fits, run analysis, triathlon coaching, and Endurance community events, the goal remains the same: helping people feel supported, connected, and confident while pursuing goals that matter to them.

Over time, Finish Strong has grown into more than just a physical therapy clinic.

Through run groups, strength programs, swim camps, biomechanical analyses, coaching, and our endurance community, we aim to create an environment where people feel supported not only during recovery, but long after they leave the treatment table.

Because “Finish Strong” is bigger than competition or performance.

It is about continuing to move forward.
It is about building confidence.
It is about staying connected to the things you love.
And it is about making sure people feel supported every step of the way.
