Understanding Out-of-Network Care at Finish Strong
At Finish Strong Physical Therapy + Performance, we are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance companies directly for our services. Instead, payment is due at the time of your appointment. We understand that navigating insurance can feel confusing, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our decision to remain out-of-network allows us to provide a higher level of care—centered around your goals, your progress, and the time you deserve with your provider.
Below are some frequently asked questions about out-of-network care, insurance reimbursement, and payment at Finish Strong. If you still have questions, our team is happy to help guide you through the process and discuss what options may be available to you.
Why We Choose to Be Out-of-Network
By operating outside of traditional insurance contracts, we’re able to prioritize what matters most: your care. This allows us to offer:
60-minute one-on-one appointments with your provider
Individualized treatment plans based on your goals - not insurance limitations
Greater flexibility in treatment approaches and visit frequency
More time for education, movement analysis, hands-on care, and exercise progression
A care experience focused on outcomes, not volume
Insurance-based models often require clinics to see multiple patients at once or limit treatment based on predetermined reimbursement rules. We believe your care deserves better.
How Payment Works
Payment for services is collected at the time of your appointment.
We accept common forms of payment, including credit/debit cards as well as HSA/FSA cards (if applicable).
Before beginning care, we encourage you to review our service pricing and ask any questions you may have so you feel confident moving forward.
Can I Still Use My Insurance?
In many cases, yes. Even though we are out-of-network, many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that may reimburse you for a portion of your treatment costs. Reimbursement varies depending on your individual plan. Some plans reimburse a significant percentage of care, while others may offer limited or no out-of-network coverage.
What Is a Superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information your insurance company may need to process an out-of-network reimbursement claim.
Your superbill typically includes:
Provider information
Treatment dates
Billing codes (CPT codes)
Diagnosis codes (ICD-10 codes)
Charges paid
After your visit, we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
How Do I Submit a Superbill?
The reimbursement process usually looks like this:
Pay for your appointment - Services are paid for at the time of care.
Receive your superbill - We will provide documentation needed for reimbursement.
Submit to your insurance company - Claims are typically submitted through your insurance portal, secure email, fax, or mail.
Receive reimbursement (if eligible) - If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you directly.
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
Before starting care, it can be helpful to call your insurance provider and ask:
Do I have out-of-network physical therapy benefits?
Is a physician referral required?
Is there a deductible I must meet?
What percentage of services is reimbursed after my deductible?
Is there a visit limit?
Are there any restrictions on reimbursement for physical therapy services?
Having this information ahead of time can help you better understand your expected costs.
