Beginner 5K Run Group
The Beginner 5K Run Group is designed for anyone who wants to run their first 5K, return to running with guidance and support, or experience what being part of a run group is all about. Whether you’re brand new to running, coming back after an injury or surgery, or simply looking for accountability and community, this group will meet you where you are and help you progress with confidence.
This program will guide you step by step toward completing the Boots to Brews 5K in Freeport on May 16th. Our focus is on building consistency, confidence, and enjoyment of running in a supportive, no-pressure environment. Each week we’ll meet twice to review a key topic related to running success, complete a run or walk/run workout tailored to your ability, and finish together with a guided cool-down.
The program begins March 12th and is ideal for anyone looking to ease into running with structure, education, and encouragement from coaches and peers alike. You don’t need prior running experience—just a willingness to show up and build the habit.
As part of the Beginner 5K Training Program, participants will receive:
· A progressive training plan designed to safely build toward a 5K
· Two coached group sessions per week (Meets on most Mondays and Thursdays, with an occasional meeting on Wednesday and 2 weekend runs)
· Weekly educational topics to support your running goals
· Structured run or walk/run workouts tailored to your level
· Guided warm-ups and cool-downs at every session
· Dedicated coaching support and individual attention
· A welcoming community of others working toward the same goal
· The opportunity to finish strong at the Boots to Brews 5K on May 16th
All participants should be able to comfortably walk (at any pace) for at least 30 minutes prior to the start of this program.
