Mike Lawrence

 

Mike Lawrence, MS, CSCS, CPSS

Mike Lawrence, MS, CSCS, CPSS, graduated from Ball State University with a BS in exercise science and MS in biomechanics. He is currently completing a PhD through Concordia University Chicago, is a full-time faculty member in Physical Therapy Department at The University of New England, and a founding member of the Northeast Ironworks Powerlifting Team. Prior to joining the faculty at UNE Mike was the manager of UNE’s Motion Analysis Laboratory.

Mike started competing in powerlifting in 2004, his best competitive lifts with a belt and knee wraps are 825 lbs. squat, 500 lbs. bench press, 710 lbs. deadlift and a 2010 lbs. total in the 275 lbs. weight class. Mike is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS). He has an active research agenda which primarily includes examining the biomechanics of different powerlifting exercises and using exercise to rehabilitate the muscles involved with lower back pain. Mike enjoys combining his experience in the gym with scientific principles to help others improve their lifting and overall well-being.

Mike lives in Saco with his wife Dani and daughter Micah.
