Dan Frey

 

Daniel Frey, PT, DPT, CMP, CSCS

Daniel Frey, PT, DPT, CMP, CSCS, is a licensed physical therapist with a clinical doctoral degree in physical therapy. He has advanced manual training as a Certified Mulligan Practitioner and is Certified in Integrative Dry Needling. He is also certified as a strength and conditioning specialist, certified Level 1 POSE Technique Specialist, and a Certified Level 1 Coach by USA Track and Field. 

Dan grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. Originally a soccer player, his passion, quickly became running. He ran his first race in 3rd grade and still holds his elementary school mile record of 5.48. 

After running high school cross country and track, Dan attended the University of Delaware where he studied Exercise Physiology with a double minor in Biology and Strength and Conditioning. While at UD, he competed at the Division 1 level in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. He specialized as a middle-distance runner, competing in the 800 and 1500.

Dan moved to Maine in 2005 to attend graduate school at the University of New England where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He has worked in orthopedics and sports medicine since graduation, specializing in the rehabilitation of runner’s and caring for post-operative patients, athletes, and active, goal-oriented individuals. 

Dan has done extensive continuing education in the area of running biomechanics and rehabilitation of running pathologies. He has performed over 750 video running analyses and worked with runners of all levels including high school, college, and professional. 

Dan is the author of the book, The Runner’s Guide a Healthy Core, and has been a contributor for Runner’s World magazine. He also lectures at the local and national level on running injury prevention. 

Dan lives in Scarborough, Maine with his wife, Jodie, two sons, Brayden and Mason, and furry trail companion, Hudson. He continues to run most days of the week and prides himself on having trained and competed at distances from track to ultra-marathons. Dan and his family enjoy being outside and active. When Dan is not running, you can find him skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, coaching youth soccer, or playing with his kids.
